Human development Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Human development - Essay Example Everything that they have learned prior to adulthood essentially comes to fruition, making them an intelligent and decisive human being (Crandell & Zanden, 2009). My understanding of what it is to be an adult will change in different contexts in the sense that each human being, while going through roughly the same mental and physical changes, still has unique experiences. One adult is not entirely the same as another adult, and my understanding of what it is to be an adult will change with the knowledge of each individual. Research is important to the understanding of what it is to be a human being because humans are complex, ever-changing beings. We are not the same in adulthood as we are as infants or in childhood. As such, it is vital to understand human beings at each stage of their lives to know the types of changes that they go through and the experiences that they have. Furthermore, research allows us to discover and comprehend the changes that are not always apparent to the e ye.

Got Milk It's Good for You-- Unless It's Contaminated Case Study
Got Milk It's Good for You-- Unless It's Contaminated - Case Study Example This in turn resulted in losses and reduced profits for them. It also brought about health complications among their customers who developed diseases linked to the kidneys. Eventually the businesspersons involved in the fraud had to face very stiff charges that were imposed on them by the authorities. The liability of such an issue should lie on the management along with the members of staff responsible for testing the milkââ¬â¢s quality at their manufacturing plant. This is because the carrying out of these tests will enable the organization to avoid the damages that will come up after their products consumption by their customers. 2. A Customer relations management system would have greatly helped in communicating issues in the milk production supply chain. This is because they would have learnt earlier about the contamination since the customers encountering them would have raised complains. The management would then have responded to the complaints earlier on and helped resolv e the crisis that followed later on (Lieberthal, 2011). For example, the competition in the Chinese market for daily products increased tremendously with the different manufacturing plants offering high prices to get the products from the farmers (Baltzan and Phillips, 2010). ... A company can use a CRM system to perform damage control after finding out about by contaminated milk within their supply chains by collecting information and disbursing it. The system could be important in monitoring the recovery of the affected customers and checking whether there are other complications, which are developing. It could also be vital in distributing information to the teams on the ground on any suspicious products being sold to their customers. This could be through the work of unscrupulous intermediaries as in the case of the Chinese organizations. 3. I do agree with the sentences awarded to the two men for their roles in the milk scandal. The intermediaries were awarded the most appropriate sentence for directly adding harmful substances to the milk (Baltzan and Phillips, 2010). The boss on the other hand was rightfully awarded the life imprisonment term for his ignorance in first testing the milk before it got to their customers (Lieberthal, 2011). The case study clearly indicates that it was the unscrupulous intermediaries who put additives into the milk in an effort of having them pass the test of fitness and quality. The competition that existed in the business caused the standards of their products to fall drastically. The actions of the two men led to the death of many Chinese children along with the hospitalization of thousands more. Some customers also developed kidney ailments that would have had adverse effects on their health conditions. The United States government should also implement similar legislations to protect the consumers of various products against the adverse effects of unethical corporate behaviors. This pieces of legislation will help in
Human Resource Training Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Human Resource Training - Essay Example One aspect of this knowledge bank is recognition of legal concerns, particularly with Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which set out to define the protected classes in terms of employment standards. Although the protected classes have been changed and updated since the middle of last century, it remains a landmark piece of federal legislation that could mean the difference between legal safety and legal action. CRA of 1964: A Lesson in History Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects individuals from discrimination in the workplace based on their race, color, religion, sex, or national origin (LII, p. 1964). That is, when hiring an employee, the hiring manager is prohibited from letting his or her decision be influenced by one of these classes to which the applicant belongs. This protection also extends to employees who may be discriminated against by some indirect form of prejudice, such as an association with another individual of a particular race, color, relig ion, sex, or national origin; for example, Title VII protects in this case from discrimination because of interracial marriage. ... That is, if a hiring manager is blind to the differences between a grossly unqualified candidate and a very qualified candidate, this ultimately will weaken the business and potentially open the business to the possibility of a lawsuit based on negligent hiring. However, the hiring manager should be blind to the nonessential differences, defined by the protected classes. Case Study: Sexual Harassment Of course, Title VII legal protection does not only extend to applicants for jobs; current employees are protected as well. In 1986, the Supreme Court ruled that sexual harassment, which is intimidation or coercion that leverages sex for favors, is an example of discrimination and prohibited by Title VII of the CRA (U.S. Supreme Court, 1986). In cases where members of an organization are accused of sexual harassment, there could be very serious legal consequences for the entire company, not just the individual who committed the act of harassment. Of course, preventing sexual harassment t heoretically begins at the initial hiring stages of employees, when the hiring manager should recognize potential conflicts between the individualââ¬â¢s personality and the company culture. However, human resources managers must always reinforce a positive culture that embraces differences rather than fosters an environment of discrimination against other employees. Because sexual harassment is a violation of federal law (as given in the Civil Rights Act and reinforced by the United States Supreme Court), the HR policy on the crime must be one of zero tolerance. Case Study: The BFOQ Companies are allowed to discriminate between the protected classes of job applicants in a few select situations that are highly tied to the business concept of

Marked Women Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Marked Women - Essay Example Marking of women discriminates them and discourage them from airing their views. My opinion is that Tannenââ¬â¢s work is an exploration of a largely ignored topic on gender discrimination. Her work is derived from a close observation of men and women at a working conference. The formal setting of the conference is perfect for exhibiting gender stereotypes, which are dominant in the male-dominated business settings. Marking is also inherent in women as most of them struggle to portray a certain image for them to feel acceptable in some settings. More fascinating was the mention of Ralph Fascoldââ¬â¢s book and his opinion on the issue. Marked means possession of a unique feature that distinguishes an individual from the rest. Biological orientation makes men marked owing to the possession of a Y chromosome that is deficient in women. Unmarking of women can only be successful if the society changes the attitude towards gender

SLP - WORK MOTIVATION Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
SLP - WORK MOTIVATION - Essay Example In acquiring addition skills in training, I have applied them in my work place to make it more presentable. When encountering some hardships and problems, I always consult my boss regularly regarding any troubling issues though not all the time he is ready with an answer. Being inventive with some ideas to which I share with my boss before tackling my job, has contributed to the current success. Regular meetings with him aimed at discussing as well as highlighting how I can improve my working skills has also played a significant role, which aligns with my scores so far obtained. Based on the content and figures above depicting my commitment and the freedom I enjoy at my work place, I believe, if my employer starts giving rewards and appraisals to employees, this score would rapidly improve. For instance, incentives like new promotions opportunities if one achieves a certain goal set by the employer. This will motivate a healthy competition among employees to vie for the new positions though in terms of outstanding respective performances (McGregor). Another aspect encompasses if the employer regularly increases employeesââ¬â¢ based on merit, this will motivate one to work extra hard and do a presentable job accordingly. This is especially in introducing overtime remunerations for extra worked hours will encourage employees to work even hard. Praising and recommending employees work will motivate and encourages one to keep on working hard within a working institution. Management should involve employees in decision making by listening to their suggestions about what they feel and think (Chapman, 2014). This will be a great privilege towards making employees feel honored and thought of positively by their superiors. If the employer comes up with a plan to pay for extra training for employees to acquire additional skills to improve, their work quality I strongly believe this can improve the personal score of an

Network Security Outline Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 4250 words
Network Security - Outline Example Network security has advanced from a fascinating curiosity to a vital rather essential part of the network management activity for potential corporate users in all sectors of the economy. Successful test projects are helping an increasing number of institutions to make the shift towards incorporating security measures in their organizations. In the recent past, last decade, network security implementations have shifted the focus from the relatively small early adopters to a much larger group of organizations that use the network security to expand and comprehensively cover the networking capabilities and enhance their solicitation to their clientele. This report examines the state security implementation on an organizationââ¬â¢s network based on the success stories and perceived benefits. It examines the objectives, background and level of detail into implementing the service. Further, the report incisively looks at the motivation for making the technological shift from wired infrastructure to wireless networking solutions and nature of the expected implementation Majority of the existing organizations, commercial and non commercial, have in the very least installed a certain security mechanism in their organizations. This comes in the form of simple firewall to a complex layered network of switches, routers etc. in a single room to rolling out large campus areas and few metropolitan area networks. Granted the continuing forecasts and advances for network technology and the pervasive use of network applications., the era for implementing tight network security in an organization is at hand. Organizations are growing increasingly concerned about security of their data, especially as the very value of their data continues to increase. This value refers to what strategic and planning information that the data can be used for. Network security has been overlooked in this rising awareness about security. It is often not possible to put a price tag on the stored data but the organization knows that it is its most valuable asset. Compromising or expo sing the information can cause them pervasive damage of their brand and reputation. Organizations ought to adopt security strategies, for instance, tagging data with a level of confidentiality to make sure only those permitted have access to such data (Connolly and Begg 2009). Security strategies are designed as the overall plans to mitigate risk. As mentioned earlier, most organizations have security strategies, but miss out on network security or do not adequately address the issue. A comprehensive security strategy must lessen the overall possibility of loss or harm to an organizationââ¬â¢s data. Furthermore, the strategy must focus on the business data concerns from a statutory, contractual and legal perspective. There exist multiple regulatory standards and requirements that have imposed on the organization to address information security risks. Contracts are making it necessary to organizations to consider security of their data at all levels. Proactive network security man agement and planning can save organizations significant amounts of money and reduce the overall exposure to risk. Striking a balance between the organizational objectives and security requirements is a task that squarely falls on the IT department. They are charged with developing the ICT policy for companies in consultation with
